… Are you trying to tell me about pursuing the “digital nomad lifestyle”, get me into a get-rich-quick scam, or sell me an online course or eBook?

Nope. I did quit my full-time job after working at it for four years. I put the word “retiring” next to a relatively young age number so that you would click the title and read this post. It worked! I am happy with how that went.

While you’re here, maybe you should stick around and read the whole thing. It won’t take you much time.

Ok. So… you’re not quitting “employment” for good, and you’re still looking for a job, aren’t you? I feel cheated.

Look, I have met at least two “high-status” straight, old men who proudly announced that they were “retiring”. Then, a week after the announcement, they were still making money somehow. One of the retired men is still hired as an “honorary consultant” of the company he previously worked at, and he is still cranking out thousands of well-researched words for his newspaper column every single week. Also, see Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki — that dude basically announces that he is retiring once a year, and he is still not retired.
